I woke up a little late in the morning and asked kids what they wanted for breakfast. They said Jam + Toast, and so that is where we went.

My wife was returning from Vegas this afternoon. She had left on Friday and arrived back at around 3pm. Gaurav picked her up from the airport, and Amol brought her home from Gaurav and Mansi’s house. When she arrived, she was excited and eager to tell us about everything she had experienced in Vegas. I wanted to hear more, but I had to get ready and leave for Austin, where I was attending a recruitment event.

When my colleague and I first discussed the trip, the plan was for me to ride with him in his Tesla. But temperatures were expected to reach about 11°F above the average for this time of year, so we decided to take my Tacoma instead.

I was already running late when I left home around 3:45 p.m. After picking him up from his house in Frisco and stopping at Shell for gas, we began our drive south.

The journey was surprisingly quick and pleasant. We stopped twice along the way: once for a restroom break at a Pilot Travel Center and again for dinner at Bangalore Lunch Room. The Penne Dosa was fabulous.

We reached the Moxy around 7:45 p.m. and were in our rooms by eight. My room has an industrial, modern, and minimalist character. It is comfortable, although perhaps not comfortable enough to overcome a poorly timed energy drink.

As I write this, it is already 11 p.m., and I have been trying to sleep for the past hour. Drinking a Celsius at 4:30 in the afternoon was not an intelligent decision.

P.S. I finally fell asleep around 5 a.m. and woke up at 8.
