A good listener is not only popular everywhere, but after a while he knows something!!

We all like people who listen to us. There is a certain satisfaction in being able to complete a thought without someone interrupting to tell us how much more they know about it. But when our turn comes to listen, we are often busy preparing our own reply. The other person is still speaking and we have already decided what to say!

I think we miss quite a lot this way. Everyone has different experiences, and even someone with whom we disagree may have something worth considering. We will never find out if we keep cutting them short.

Listening does not mean that we have to agree with everything. We can ask questions, disagree, and put forward our own views. But surely we should first understand what the person is trying to say?

Something for me to practise as well. It is much easier to write about being a good listener than to remain one when I have something to say!!
